The Blackall Range Visual Artists (BRVA) first met on March 4, 2003, in the Old School House in Mapleton. Members now meet weekly at Mapleton Bowls Club.
Each month a member of the group or a local artist is invited to hold a three-hour workshop. This sharing of techniques and art history is one of the ways they encourage and support local artists.
Recent in-house workshops have included: Painting with Coffee, Portraiture, Abstraction, Negative Space, Frottage and Dada.
The group aims to help inspire each other's artistic pursuits, reflect on their individual endeavours and sustain a passion for the Arts. BRVA is a recognised part of the vigorous and extensive art community of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
Group exhibitions are held at Montville's St Mary's Hall at least four times a year coinciding with Queensland School Holidays. Blackall Range Visual Artists proudly donate all commissions from sales to help maintain this historic hall.
Six of their artists are soon to hang a selection of artwork across an exciting array of mediums and techniques. Their next exhibition runs from June 27 until July 2, 10am - 3pm.
