HOLISTIC - A bend in the road

A bend in the road is not the end of the road unless we fail to make the turn. No one is immune to life’s bends, but how we cope with them determines what happens next in our lives.
Bends can be opportunities to grow and develop our character. They come in all different forms, but each carry their own challenges to conquer. Marriage, relationships, health alerts, mid-life crossings, ageing, finances, etc.… help our image develop.
One of the most valuable things we can do during a bend is to stop and reflect, because our initial response is often worrying and that accomplishes nothing. Give most bends thirty-six hours and you’ll frequently see them differently.
When faced with a bend you are going to have to believe in yourself and not let it cripple you. Use self-control and focus on a plan to overcome the bend rather than let it defeat you. Reflect on past bends you dominated and gain strength in the knowledge of them.
See the bend before you in relation to the road you’ve already travelled on and investigate the distance to see the destination you are trying to reach. Too often we forget about our past successes and only focus on our failures.
There are many valuable lessons in bends when we fully embrace them knowing they are an integral part of life.
In life we regularly go through some bad things to get to the good and mostly the only way there is around a bend.
Eleanor Roosevelt (US President Roosevelt’s wife) said, “You gain strength, courage and confidence with every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the things you think you cannot do”.
Bends are not the end but a new beginning, look them in the face and bravely go around them.
Blessings,
Kerrie
