CREATIVE CUTS - Eudlo concerts to delight music lovers!

The Sunshine Coast’s favourite summer classical music event is back. Summer Concerts 2026

Viva la Cello! returns to Eudlo Hall from January 16-18, presenting three intimate and uplifting concerts that celebrate the expressive power, versatility, and sheer beauty of the cello.

Now in its fourth year, this boutique regional concert series brings together exceptional cellists from across Australia and abroad, alongside rising young artists from the acclaimed Summer Intensive Retreat.

Curated by cellist and artistic director Louise King, the series offers audiences a rare opportunity to immerse themselves in bold, joyful, and imaginative cello-centred programming in a warm and welcoming village setting.

Across one vibrant weekend, listeners will experience Folk and Originals - traditional toe-tapping reels, contemporary Americana bluegrass works, and a headline folk set with festival favourites, Those Folk.

Listeners will also enjoy Baroque and Tango - elegant Baroque gems paired with the fire and pulse of Piazzolla, De Falla, and tango classics, and Classical Cellissimo! - international cellists György Déri and Rachel Johnston join Louise King for a thrilling classical finale with the Retreat Cello Choir performing a diverse program including a world premiere.

A highlight of the series is its commitment to showcasing emerging Australian musicians, offering meaningful performance pathways for advanced young cellists and developing artists.

“This is Australia’s only summer concert series dedicated entirely to the cello and it’s a joyful celebration of sound and community,” shared Louise.

“We bring world-class artists into a small hall, and the energy is electric. Eudlo becomes cello utopia for one weekend.

“Audiences tell us every year that they can’t believe concerts of this calibre happen in a tiny hinterland hall - world-class music, up close, and unforgettable.

“There is nothing else in Australia quite like this: a whole weekend centred on the cello, community, and creative collaboration. It’s inspiring, surprising, and beautifully connective, both for players and audiences.

“Sharing this music in such an intimate setting reminds us why live performance matters.

People don’t just listen; they feel part of something.”
