BACK TO NATURE - Giving vulnerable animals a second chance

Every homeless cat and dog that comes into the care of 4 Paws Animal Rescue is given the same promise: a new home and a new life.

Neeko the Pomeranian, may be 10 years old and living with medical issues, but the tiny senior still has plenty of love and life left in him.

He’s one of more than 100 cats and dogs supported through 4 Paws Animal Rescue’s Permanent Resident Program, created for animals who may otherwise struggle to find a home.

Neeko came into care with a luxating patella and a collapsing trachea – conditions that can see dogs overlooked through traditional adoption models.

“Dogs like Neeko are exactly why we created the program,” said 4 Paws patron Ashley Robinson.

“Senior animals or those with medical or behavioural challenges are often the ones who wait the longest. Too often, they’re passed by simply because they need a little extra support. This program gives them the chance to experience what every animal deserves – love, safety and a family.”

Under the program, 4 Paws covers veterinary care for life, helping foster carers open their homes to vulnerable animals.

Neeko has found his happy ever after, but other dogs and cats are still waiting for a family to call their own. As a 100% volunteer run, foster based rescue, 4 Paws relies on community support to continue changing the lives of vulnerable animals across the Sunshine Coast

To help continue programs like this, 4 Paws Animal Rescue is preparing for its annual Santa Paws in the Park fundraiser on July 19 at Lake Kawana.

The family and dog-friendly event will introduce a new community walk and feature Santa Paws favourites, including market stalls, food trucks, dog competitions, raffles and

Santa photos, all raising vital funds for rescue animals across the Sunshine Coast.

As for this month’s adoption profile, meet Winnie and Eddie. At just three years old, Winnie and Eddie are a very bonded pair searching for a family willing to open their heart and their home to both of them.

Winnie, the sweet Cavoodle and Eddie, the handsome Cavalier adore each other’s company and bring out the best in one another. They enjoy their daily walks and will follow you around the house supervising your daily activities.

These boys are everything you could want in young and healthy dogs. House trained, affectionate and with very good manners, they’ve settled in quickly to foster care. However, they need a family to call their own.

They have lovely temperaments, thrive on companionship and would make wonderful additions to a home with kids over 12 or a couple/individual looking for twice the love.

They are dog friendly, but untested with cats. Because of their strong bond, they will only be adopted together. In return, you’ll gain two devoted best friends who are ready to fill your home with loyalty and love.

If you’re able to offer this gorgeous duo the forever home they deserve, please complete an adoption application form from the 4 Paws Animal Rescue website.
