LET’S TALK BUSINESS - Sisters are doing it for - their customers!

James Frames in Maleny pride themselves on being a little shop with BIG art supplies, and they love framing the things you love, whether that’s an artwork, family photos, a quirky tea towel, a jersey, or a boxing glove! We recently caught up with owner/frame-maker, Gillian (Gil) James, her sister Jodi has recently joined the team, so it’s high time for an update on this welcoming local business!

James Frames in Maleny is about to enter its ninth year in business, and owners Gil and Gavin James have lots of new and exciting things planned for 2026. 

Gil’s sister and Maleny local Jodi recently joined the James Frames team and the two are excited to be working together. 

“I’m the big sister, but when we’re at work Gil is totally the boss,” Jodi said. 

They are often asked if they work well together and their answer is that they think the same and speak the same language, so it’s been very easy to transition to a working relationship.

This year, James Frames will be offering next-level convenience to its customers by taking their art supplies online. Jodi will be helping implement new systems including online shopping, home delivery and ‘click and collect’. 

Gil said, “We’re happy to offer the ease of shopping from home while at the same time allowing people to support a local business rather than a ‘tech bro’ company or cheapie overseas website, which we know is important to many of our customers.” 

Not only are Gil and Jodi now workmates, they also recently started running their own trivia nights. Trivia Schmivia with Jodi and Gil started in July of 2025 and has quickly become a popular fortnightly event at Brouhaha Maleny. 

Gil and Jodi come up with all of the quirky questions and invite patrons to spin the Wheel of Trivia to decide which questions are asked on the night. They also give away plenty of prizes – including a highly-coveted prize for last place.

“We have been blown away by the response and support we’ve received from the people of Maleny and are very proud to have created a community that comes together every couple of weeks for a bit of fun and silliness,” said Jodi.

With so many exciting things happening, 2026 is shaping up to be a great year for Gil, Gavin and Jodi at James Frames.
