CREATIVE CUTS - Sky, Sea and Land

The Village Puppet Festival takes over The Playhouse in Maleny on October 24 and 25.  This biennial event, organised by Catherine O’Neill of Little Big World Puppet Theatre, takes place in a different town each time and is one of only two puppet festivals in Australia! 

Tickets are now available to see a variety of shows from eight local puppet companies for everyone aged 1 to 100! See roving puppets in the theatre foyer, verandah and grounds, including The Magic Wishing Tree made by artist Daina Macauley with an abundance of hand, shadow, tabletop puppets, marionettes and larger structures of birds and animals. 

Workshops in circus skills and puppet-making with free pop-up performances on the verandah, all accompanied by fabulous buskers including rock music, accordion playing and The Oak Sprite with his dancing marionette! 

At 3.30pm each day is the Puppet Parade, a free event for everyone where puppets, ribbon twirlers and instruments are loaned to create a fabulous fun parade around the grounds! (Pictured: Catherine O'Neill, director of Little Big World Puppet Company with Margaret Magpie.)
